I’m a very fussy “chips “ man - I have struggled to find a fish and chip shop that sells chips that are crispy - they all seem to go soggy and limp and I find this mildly depressing and very annoying. HOWEVER Standard Fish Bar saved me the grief when I bought a portion of chips recently. I was very pleasantly surprised to find the provided a medium portion that was enough for two people, but most importantly the chips were crispy as heck and piping hot. I haven’t sampled their fish or other items yet but they look very decent. I literally will be their customer for life - thank you Standard Fish Bar. Outstanding Fish & Chips Experience at Standard Fish Bar! If you’re around Blackheath Royal Standard, you have to check out the newly renovated Standard Fish Bar! The transformation is incredible – the place is now so spacious and beautifully designed, with a modern yet cozy feel that’s perfect for family outings or just relaxing with friends. The menu has had a serious upgrade too! They’ve kept the classics we all love, but now there’s a variety of options, especially for those craving chicken. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious, from the perfectly crispy and golden fish to the fresh, hand-cut chips. Their chicken options are also fantastic, with each item cooked just right, juicy, and flavorful. Hygiene is clearly a priority here, and it shows. The place is spotless, and you can really appreciate the care they put into keeping everything pristine. The friendly, welcoming team adds to the whole experience, delivering excellent service with a smile. This family-owned gem has taken fish and chips to the next level – a true must-visit if you’re in the area. We’ll definitely be back for more!

This is my first time leaving a review for anything, but I just wanted to say your fish and chips is amazing. I’m from Japan, and very fussy about fish freshness or any kind of food. I hate batter that’s too thick, but this place does it nicely to make sure the fish is the main character, very crispy. And love your chips too. Hope to come back

Great food, reasonably priced and the bloke serving was nice and friendly. Nice big portions of proper fresh cooked chips. The tartar is made in house and was lovely as well. Strongly recommend.

Top tier fish and chips. Best chippie I’ve tried in London. Lovely fresh fish, good crispy batter, and perfect chips which are crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. Plus an amazing curry sauce and mushy peas! 👌
